Black River and Point of Pines 7-4-04 (22 images)
Tammy and I decided to head out to the Black River for a day or two. Point of Pines is a small town on
the San Carlos Indian Reservation a couple miles from the Black River. I'm not even sure if anyone lives
there. This was probably my 3rd or 4th trip to the Black River. The first time I went out there I saw Black
Bear (a mom and two cubs). I love it out there. The Black River is supposedly some of the best smallmouth
fishing in the southwest. I wouldn't know though, I never catch anything. We had already been down at
the river for probably about 30 minutes when a dad and his two sons came down and went a little further
upstream then us. Well, about two hours later I still hadn't even gotten a bite. One of that guys sons
(no older then 12)... that little bastard had like 5 smallies tied up. Man that shit pissed me off. I did
find a cool cow skull up at Dry Lake though.
