Cradlebaugh Battle Site 1-7-06 (19 images)

Today I went out exploring the Prescott National Forest near Dugas, AZ with some friends from 4WD Trips. Actually, this was the first time I've met any of them in person. It was nice to finally put some faces with names. Any ways, we went out there looking for the Cradlebaugh battle site. The battle was between some Cavalry from Fort Verde and Yavapai warriors. It took place in January, 1871. There is supposed to be a plaque underneath a tree marking the battle site, but we couldn't find it. We know we were in the right place, so we suspect that the plaque has been removed. After poking around the battle site a bit, we decided to explore a little further down the trail. It turns out the Baja Taco had managed to bust a CV joint. Unlike myself, he is smart enough to carry a spare. Of course during the repair I had to be my normal annoying self and be right in the mix asking a million questions. I know it's only a matter of time before I will need to swap a CV on the trail. After trail repair class we continued on the trail for a couple more miles. We ended up at a place called Sycamore Spring. There were some great campsites along the wash. I will definitely be going back out there sometime for some more exploration and camping.
