White Mountains 8-4-06 (22 images)
Alright, I don't feel like writing right now, so quick overview. We went across Y55 on the White
Mountain Apache Reservation to Pacheta Lake. Set up camp at Pacheta. Did scome scouting across
the forest boundary in Apache Sitgreaves unit 1. A Mexican Grey Wolf killed a baby elk about 200
yards from our camp. He was chasing the herd south past our camp. One of the babies freaked out
and ran off to the left straight into a wire fence. The wolf grabbed it by the neck and killed
it. Ramon came about 15 yards from the wolf. It circled the elk while eyeing Ramon, then ran up the hill.
We headed home out FR25 through Apache Sitgreaves to the 191 (Coronado Trail). On FR25 we came across a
group of Rocky Mountain Sheep (a bunch of ewes and lambs).
